South Africa (Wildlife)
South Western Cape, tropical east coast, Zululand and the Kruger National Park
The natural beauty of South Africa has to be experienced to be believed, not only in terms of scenery but also for its huge variety of colourful birds and, of course, the large mammals for which the whole of southern Africa is famed.
We have created a tour that combines the best of the country. From Cape Town to the Kruger National Park we will experience the extraordinary biodiversity of the region from birds and botany to magnificent game animals such as lions and elephants, enjoying the superb climate and scenery as we go along.
We start in Cape Town by visiting the Kirstenbosch Gardens and taking the cable car up to the top of Table Mountain. We'll explore the Cape of Good Hope, stopping at the African Penguin colony at Boulders Beach and including a visit to the bird filled West Coast National Park where Flamingos and many other birds such as Southern Black Korhaan can be found.
The provinces of KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga on the South Africa's eastern seaboard boast some of the country's finest birding and game viewing, with a combined birdlist of well over 750 species. We fly to Durban from Cape Town and spend time to enjoy the national parks as we head slowly north, passing through a wide variety of habitats and enjoying all aspects of this fabulous countryside and its wildlife.
Our holiday ends with three full days exploring the world-famous Kruger National Park. Here there will be plenty of opportunity to look for the "big five" and often you will find you are the only people there, which is so much more exciting than vying with dozens of other vehicles as can happen in the more popular parks. Add to the wonder of watching lions or elephants close up the fact that Kruger boasts a bird list in excess of 500 species and you have a very special experience in store.
The magnificent scneery and unique, highly colourful flora of this part of the South Africa combined with some spectacular bird and animal life will make this a holiday to remember and that is without mentioning the 'summer' sunshine along with excellent food and wine.
