21st Birthday Scottish islands cruise

The Scottish Islands are the birthplace of Island Holidays and of its co-founder, the late Bobby Tulloch, one of Britain's best-loved naturalists. This trip is a celebration of 21 years of the company and Bobby's life - and we want you to come along.

The departure point for this special tour is the granite city of Aberdeen. Once aboard the Aleksey Maryshev, we sail for Fair Isle where we will land to look at the wildlife and of course the knitwear! We then sail on to the Shetland island of Mousa before spending a special day in Bobby's memory on Yell. He was born here and lived here for much of his life. We'll visit the Old Haa (or hall) to see his memorial and spend part of the day in the company of a local storyteller.

Now we head for some of the more remote islands - North Rona, Sula Sgeir, St. Kilda, Flannan Islands, Mingulay, Berneray, Pabay. The very names conjure up wildness, beauty and peace but we will also look at the human history of these "islands on the edge".

The holiday ends in Oban from where trains run to Glasgow to make homeward connections. There are different grades of cabin and prices, which are fully inclusive except for travel to Aberdeen and from Oban.

Note that this trip is in June 2009 but in order to secure the ship, we need your commitment now.
