St Helena airport confirmed
The remote island of St Helena in the South Atlantic is finally going to get its airport.
The threatened (?) airport for St Helena looks like it will become a realilty, according to a recent announcement in the House of Commons. In his statement, the Minister said that it would mean an increase in tourists from 900 a year to 30,000 which makes me shudder a bit. But the good news is that there'll be plenty of time to get there before it changes for ever. We're offering a St Helena guided tour in February - still a few places left - and also in October, details of which will be on this site very soon. Alternatively we can arrange independent travel for you on board the wonderful Royal Mail Ship, in herself an institution with accommodation on the island for 8 nights.
Don't wait too long if you want to experience the island as it has been for so many years.
