Falkland Islanders have confirmed that they are and want to be British! In an enviable turnout of 92%, an amazing 99.8% voted in favour.
"More British than the British" is one way of describing Falkland Islanders. Movingly, they still take every opportunity to thank the people who laid down their lives to maintain the island's soveignty when it was threated by Argentina all those years ago.
Island Holidays has been taking folk to the Falkland Islands since 1988 and we really know and love the place and many of its people. We spend a little time in the capital, Stanley, but are mosting out in "Camp" which is what anywhere which isn't Stanley is called. We visit different islands and settlements and the emphasis of our interest is the wildlife, but we don't ignore other aspects of island life and history.
Our groups our limited to just 8 people plus our tour leader who used to live there and, when not teaching, volunteered with Falkland Islands Conservation. Travel between islands is by Islander aircraft - and experience in itself and a wonderful way to get an overview of the landscapes.
In addition to our own wildlife tour, we also operate a photographic tour on behalf of Craig Jones Wildlife Photography which is perfect for very keen photographers.
So come and find out for yourselves what it is about the islands which make them so special and so very British.
