Flights to St Helena - The Wait Is Finally Over
Scheduled flights to St Helena from Johannesburg to commence in October 2017.
The long-awaited airport on the island of St Helena is open with flights commencing in October 2017. The 76-seater Embraer E-190 will fly out of Johannesburg and special fares will also be available from Cape Town and the flight takes 6 hours including a re-fuelling stop at Windhoek in Namibia. Initially there will be just one flight a week – on Saturdays – but it is intended to increase this to two some time in the first 12 months of operation.
“This is an exciting development for St Helena” says Libby Weir-Breen of Island Holidays. “We’ve waited a long time and at last a number of people will be able to experience the delights of the island who were previously unable to do so because of the time commitment involved in the sea passage.”
Island Holidays is offering guided tours for small groups and can also arrange independent visits tailored to suit the requirements of the individuals concerned. “Our knowledge and experience of the island for many years makes Island Holidays the leading specialist supplier of holidays to St Helena” said Libby.
